Golf Results & Barons Begin 2010 Run
Golf Digest --- In a round reminiscent of the one played by the priest and Carl Spakler, from the classic movie "Caddyshack", the Barons' foursomes braved an early spring downpour. When we say downpour, we mean the heavy stuff was coming down. "I wanted to play the whole time. I never complained for one second about packing it in and hitting the 19th hole early. I'm what you call a man of the elements." commented Mike Cohen. Cohen was one of the winners of the 5th Annual Barons Golf Extravaganza, along with A-player Scott MacArthur, and the Arbogast brothers, Tyler and Travis. After posting a collective 67 (5 under par), Team SMAC took home the 2010 title.
Speaking of titles, the Barons baseball team will begin the quest for their fourth title in the past decade. On Sunday, the Barons will participate in an exhibition with the Modoc at WT White beginning at 1pm. "It's time to start getting back in shape. It gets tougher each year, we keep getting older but the league doesn't seem to follow suit." remarked James Gardner.
The Barons have recently signed Dave Wilson, who will play infield and hopefully eat up some innings behind the plate. "Dave's got some sweet hands, and looks like he can handle the bat. We were lucky to get him as the #2 pick in the draft this season." commented 3rd year skipper Travis Arbogast.
The Barons are back and ready for another summer. |
