Barons Move On to Semi-Final Round
Dallas Morning News --- I hope you don't usually get your Dallas Morning News addition from the dispenser on McKinney Avenue and Routh Street. If so, you may be paperless this fine morning. After a crash, bang, and some mayhem the metal paper-box was wiped out in a single automotive blow. Much like the Barons first round playoff series, the team created some noise with the sticks and eliminated the Dodgers from contention, moving along in the 2009 quest for the MSBL title.

After a game one win, 6-2, the Barons came out swinging again, this time scoring 9 runs before all the dust settled. Dave DePaul led the way with an uplifting first inning home run with two outs. DePaul would finish the game with 2 hits, 2 runs scored, and 2 RBIs. Jason Bottenfield also continued his success at the dish with 2 hits and 2 RBIs of his own. Not to be outdone, Brent Huddleston tallied 2 hits and 2 RBIS, including a two out single in the third inning that provided some much needed breathing room.

Three Barons' staffers saw action on Wednesday night. Travis Arbogast won his fifth game of the season with a 7 inning performance as he gave up one run, 4 hits, and struck out six Dodgers. Greg Hillman got back on track with a confident outing, as he retired the side in the 8th inning while striking out one. Jason Bottenfield closed out the ballgame and the series in the 9th, also striking out one.

The Barons move on to the semi-final round to play the well rested Modoc. This will mark the third time in as many years that the Barons and Modoc will square off in post season action. Game one is scheduled for 4pm at Jesuit Park this Sunday. The Barons will be ready to go with ace Pete Terrana, and will look to get a jump start against the always determined Modoc team. The Barons have struggled this season with a 1-3-1 record versus their semi-final opponents, with two losses coming by one run, and the third by two in extra innings. "All of our games have been very close. They've had the upper hand, but we're playing great baseball right now, and feel like it should be a well fought series." said Michael Cohen.
