Barons Roll with Bade
SI.com --- The Dallas Barons won their first game in four weeks, and it was a big one. The victory came in the opening match of a best-of-three series against the Dodgers. After some last minute shuffling the Barons finished third place and drew the Dodgers in the Quarterfinals of the 2009 MSBL Open Division Playoffs. The Barons took game one in a 6-2 win that displayed the best of Barons baseball this season.

Jake Bade, veteran shortstop, led the way with two hits including a fifth inning solo blast to left field that nearly cleared the stadium while igniting the Baron fan base. Bade scored three runs, walked twice, had 1 RBI, and also stole a bag from his two-hole slot in the line up. "I like hitting in the two. Wherever the team needs me, that's how I roll." remarked Bade.

The Barons had eight hits, drew walks after good at bats, and found some timely hits along the way. Dave DePaul had an RBI single to plate the first run, and Brent Huddleston had a clutch RBI double later in the game to round out the scoring. Jason Bottenfield was spectacular in the field and was 2 for 4 at the plate with a couple of well hit singles. "The bats came alive earlier, which was very nice to see. I really liked our approach today at the yard." said James Gardner who had an RBI single.

Pete Terrana won his 10th game of the season, becoming the first Baron to reach double digit wins in the history of the storied franchise. "It's an honor. I love playing with these guys, we pick each other up, and this milestone was reached as a collective unit." said Terrana as he fought back the emotion in the post game presser.

The Barons now look to game #2 in the series which will be played on Wednesday night at 7pm at Reverchon Park. "We'd love to close this series out, but the Dodgers will come to play. They're a scrappy team." said Lanny Lawrence.
