Five Run 8th Inning Notches Win
The Daily Pennsylvanian --- The score was knotted at six runs apiece as the Dallas Barons entered the top of the 8th inning on Sunday's contest against the Buffaho. Jay Alexander led off the frame with a double off the right-center field wall, completing a 3 for 4 performance that included 3 RBIs. It was Alexander's first game back after a two month DL stint, and he made sure his presence was felt in the line-up. "We missed J.A. He was our MVP last year, and not only can swing it, he's a very good outfielder. He made a play today that saved a run in the late innings." said the other J, J Giager.

After Alexander landed at second, Jason Bottenfield executed a perfect bunt down the first base line that he beat out for a single, while also advancing Alexander to third. With runners on the corners, hot hitting James Gardner continued his career season with a single, his second on the day, up the middle for the go-ahead RBI. Bottenfield scored the eighth run on a Buffalo error, leaving runners again at the corners with two outs. Scott MacArthur iced the game with a three run shot that cleared the right center field wall for his first homerun of the season bringing the score to the final 11-6.

The Barons staff held the Buffalo to 7 hits, and worked out of some jams throughout. Greg Hillman picked up his first win of the season in three innings of solid relief. Hillman inherited a tie ballgame, and only gave up one hit and did not allow a run. "Greg is a big piece of the puzzle. If he can give us three or four strong, then our staff will be tough to beat." said Pete Terrana who started and pitched five innings.

The Barons have won five games in a row. Their record now stands at 15-6-1 and they find themselves just 6 percentage points out of first place with four games remaining before the playoffs begin. "We have two more games against these guys (Buffalo) and we're playing some pretty good ball right now." said manager Travis Arbogast.

The Barons will have the weeknight game off this week. The summer action will continue next Sunday at 1pm vs. the Colt 45s at Jesuit Field.
